FREE Cycle Marking Event: Thursday 1 October 2026

We are pleased to announce that on Thursday, 1 October 2026, Outwood Academy Valley will host a FREE Cycle Marking Event in collaboration with Nottinghamshire Police.

About the Security Marking
Security marking is one of the most effective ways to deter thieves and protect a bicycle against theft. We will be using BikeRegister, the UK’s national, Police-approved bicycle marking and registration database.

The process involves affixing two tamperproof labels to the bicycle: one placed in plain sight as a visible visual deterrent, and a second placed in a discreet location.

Marking takes only a couple of minutes per bike once the online form is completed.

Action Required Before the Event
To participate, the registration form must be completed before the event by a responsible adult over the age of 18.

How the Day Will Work
Outwood Academy Valley 11–16 Students (Lunchtime): Students can collect their bikes from the internal bike store during lunchtime to have them marked by Nottinghamshire Police officers.

Every student who has their bike marked will automatically be entered into a prize draw to win a selection of cycling accessories!

At around 2:00 pm, officers will relocate to the Leisure Centre Car Park for the remainder of the afternoon. This session is open to anyone else who may wish to take advantage of this free service. This includes students who store their bikes in the Leisure Centre bike store (after 2:40 pm), Post-16 students and any member of our local community.

Please note that Outwood Academy Valley is acting solely as the host venue for this event. Details entered on the registration form will be shared directly with Nottinghamshire Police and BikeRegister for the purpose of bicycle identification, registration, and crime prevention.
