Children's Commissioner: Back to School Resources for Families
As it is the start of a new academic year, please find a link to the Children's Commissioner website which provides a wealth of resources and advice for families to support children and young people back into school.
If my child needs to be absent from school, what do I need to do?
My child has a short term illness. Do they have to go to school and will I be penalised if they don't. Plus the NHS guide on Is my child too ill for school?
There is also additional information around Attendance and Absence on the school's website.
The Children's Commissioner website also includes information and resources on:
Moving from primary to secondary school, including an activity pack
The Children's Commissioners Help at Hand service offering advice and assistance to children in care, children working with social services, children living away from home and care leavers.
With the Summer Holidays fast approaching, at Kooth we appreciate there will be some young people who may struggle during the holidays without the access to the daily pastoral support, trusted adults and friends that the school community provides.
A reminder that Kooth.com is a free, safe and anonymous mental health and wellbeing service comissioned for young people in Bassetlaw aged 11 - 25. Available without referral or waiting lists until 10pm each night, 365 days per year, it provides a much needed out of hours service for advice and help. If you'd like to provide students with a reminder of Kooth's support before the holidays, please see our 10 minute assembly HERE.
