Relationships and Sex Education and Health Education (RSHE) Policy (Secondary)

Mon 13 Oct 2025
The statutory guidance requires the Trust to consult with parents/carers on the policy.
The policy above, alongside the DfE guidance plus an accompanying  Google Form will capture all feedback.

An email has also been sent out to all parents/carers on the morning of Monday, 13 October 2025 alerting them to the consultation and advising parents/carers that there are printed copies of both the policy, the guidance and the consultation feedback form will be available from the school (there are copies on reception).  Completed forms can be left with the receptionist.  All responses will be processed centrally as we will need to review if any changes to the policy are required further to the feedback.

Once the feedback has been considered and any appropriate changes made to the policy you will be notified and a copy of the updated policy will be added to school websites. Parental feedback will be shared with you so that you have a record that you have consulted.

Academy Council Consultation
The policy will also be shared with Academy Council members and we will collate their feedback in the same way.

Both the parental and Academy Council Member consultations will be open from Monday,13 October 2025 and close on Sunday, 2 November 2025.

Parental Right to Withdraw
Parents/carers also have the right to withdraw their child(ren) from some or all aspects of sex education. In the event of this, please refer to the information on page 11 of the policy for further information.

Curriculum Mapping
Whilst the curriculum coverage has been outlined in Appendix 2 of the policy, each school has a responsibility to evaluate and amend the content where needed across the secondary years. This should reflect their provision. This mapping document should also be shared with parents/carers so that they know when specific topics are being taught; this is especially important for families with vulnerable and/or SEND children who will require advance notice of specific topics.
