Modern Foreign Languages

MFL at Outwood Academy Valley

We are a faculty of four members of staff with a variety of teaching experience, who have all spent time living and working abroad. We are enthusiastic about our subject and keen to ensure that our students develop a love of learning other languages and about other cultures.

KS3 Spanish and French

During the KS3 curriculum we will be developing the four skill areas; listening, speaking, reading and writing. Our aim is to provide exciting opportunities for students to develop their confidence, improve their independent learning skills and to foster a love of other languages and cultures. We do not use a course book as our lessons are based on a wide range of resources. Students will be set homework on a regular basis using the Vocab Express website but we also encourage students to develop their language learning skills using other methods such as flashcards, www.memrise,com, www.quizlet.com, BBC Bitesize amongst others.

Students can attend after school enrichments on Wednesdays and Thursdays if they would like to use a laptop to do their homework. Teachers are available at this time to support students.
